In the Nueva Plata of the 1960s, life seems to obey an unshakable routine: the men work, the women stay quiet, and uncomfortable stories are buried before they can become words. But one night, a tavern marked by drinks, tangos, shadows and secrets burns down — and something more than wood seems to go up in flames with it.

Ever since, the town remembers without speaking, denies without forgetting, and keeps, under the ash, a truth no one is willing to say out loud.

A novel about unstable memory, wounded masculinity, a woman living under mandate, the town as an invisible court, and fire as symbol. Moral ambiguity is never resolved here — it accumulates.
